TTPD Arrest Two Men | H&W Powersports on New Boston Road

Texarkana Texas Police Department was notified late last Friday night about a possible crime in progress at H&W Powersports on New Boston Road. Without much of a fuss TTPD was able to get the situation under control and arrests made.

A little after 11:00 last Friday night, we got an alarm call at H&W Powersports on New Boston Road. When Officer Nick Tirone got there a couple of minutes later, he found that the fence behind the building had been cut and an overhead door had been pried open. He could also see someone walking around inside the business. As we were getting ready to go inside to make an arrest, one of the guys noticed Sgt. Kris Smith keeping an eye on them through a window. He took off running, looking for a quick way out. They both found a side door and we’re off to the races before Sgt. Smith could get around the corner. They got to the fence and were maybe feeling pretty good about their chances of getting away. That is until they were unexpectedly met there by Officer Tirone – and his K9 partner Argus. When Argus loudly “announced” his presence, they instantly decided that they didn’t want anything to do with him and gave up.

Thomas Renick and Malcom White Jr, both 19-year-old residents of DeKalb, were arrested and transported to the Bi-State Jail. For their late-night exploits here in Texarkana, they were charged with Burglary of a Building and Evading Arrest. However, these weren’t the only problems that these two had. We discovered that they both had outstanding felony warrants for their arrest too. Renick was wanted for three counts of Burglary and one for Theft of a Firearm in Red River County. White had probation violation warrants that stem from a 2018 conviction for Evading Arrest in a Vehicle and Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant. Renick’s total bond for all his charges was set at $72,500 and White’s is $55,000. Neither has been able to make bond yet so they’re still residents of the jail.

It looked like they had some fun times planned for Friday night – at least before we showed up and royally screwed their plans. They’d moved a couple of dirt bikes from the showroom to the shop area and were apparently trying to put gas and oil in them when we interrupted them. But it was apparently “safety first” so they’d also grabbed a couple of helmets.
Good job to all the officers out there that helped catch these two bad guys!!
