A successful joint effort between TAPD and TTPD ensured the arrest of Stephen Burrid today. Burris was wanted for a shooting in Texarkana, Arkansas last week.
We arrested Stephen Burris, 24, of Texarkana, Texas this afternoon following a brief pursuit. Burris was wanted for a shooting that happened late last week in Texarkana Arkansas that resulted in them issuing warrants for Battery-1st degree and eight counts of Aggravated Assault.
Our officers saw Burris as he drove away from his home on Juniper Street and knew he had the felony warrants. They attempted to stop him, but he immediately sped away and managed to briefly allude them before abandoning his truck a few blocks away. Upon finding the truck, we quickly set up a perimeter in the area and called for a TAPD K-9 unit to run a track from the truck into the wooded area into which we believed that he had run. A short time later, an officer watching the perimeter along Galleria Oaks saw Burris walk out of the woods and took him into custody without incident at that point.
Burris was booked into the Bi-State Jail on our charge of Evading in a Vehicle today – as well as the Arkansas felony warrants.
