The Danger of Street Level Drugs

TAPD offers an explanation of how and why street-level drugs can be lethal. If you have any information that may help assist in removing these “laced” drugs off the streets please call the Criminal Investigation Division, 903-798-3133. If you or anyone you know need help with addiction click here for local resources available.

We wanted to convey the same message as other agencies have done recently, to our community, because this is a serious and important matter. In our surrounding area, there have been several drug overdoses recently. The information that has been gathered suggests the street drugs are being laced with a drug called Fentanyl. This drug can be mixed in with all street drugs and even opioids. There are people who can make pills and can compress whatever they want to in the pills. They can even alter the appearance and make it look as if it came from the pharmacy. This is where Fentanyl makes it introduction to the addicts who may abuse illegal prescription drugs.

In case you are not aware, Fentanyl can be introduced into the blood system by simply being absorbed through the skin!! That’s right, so if there is Fentanyl present or even residue on an object it becomes an extremely dangerous problem. Especially if a child has access to it. This drug will absorb through the skin and the child’s life will be in danger. We have added a few photos to show you how much Fentanyl it takes to cause an adult to begin overdosing, to impress upon you how dangerous it can be to the whole community, especially our children! If this is mixed into a drug, there is no way to know it is in there or how much was added. And those drug dealers are not looking out for anyone’s safety!

If you have an addiction problem and need help, please call this number for our area (870)-772-1371 or contact the Narcotics anonymous Hotline at 1-888-NAWORKS (1-888-629-6757.)

Our Criminal Investigation Division along with our Drug Task Force is putting great effort into this investigation. We will keep our community updated as information becomes available, so we can all stay safe.
