Sad news of the passing of the British Monarch Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96.
The Queen passed away this afternoon at her Balmoral Castle Estate in Scotland. According to Buckingham Palace, she was surrounded by her family and staff following a decline in her health.
The Queen who was the longest serving Monarch in British history had just celebrated the Platinum Jubilee in June to celebrate 70 years on the throne. That threshold was actually set back in February.
She ascended to the throne in 1952 when her father King George VI passed away at the age of 56.
It was just two days ago that the Queen hosted the new British Prime Minister Liz Truss at her estate.
Her son, Prince Charles will be the next King of England.
