It’s summer, and we all want to be outside enjoying the sun’s soft glow as it sets without mosquitoes buzzing at us and diving bombing us. Unfortunately, their continuous buzzing, not to mention their bites’ lingering itchiness, can be incredibly irritating. Nevertheless, we want you to enjoy your outdoor summer space. So we have found two convenient budget-friendly “anit-mosquito” technics to claim your backyard.

“Hotel California” Mosquito Trap!

Supplies:
1 cup of really hot water
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1/3 teaspoon Yeast (eyeball it)
1 empty 2-liter bottle

1: Cut the plastic bottle in half. (Try to make it so the halves are equal)halves.

2: In a bowl, combine one cup of hot water with the brown sugar and stir until it is well mixed and the sugar is dissolved. Let the sugar water cool down, and then pour into the bottom half of your bottom half of the bottle.

3: Now sprinkle in the yeast. Yeast is the key to this mosquito trap…they love this stuff!

4: Now, we create the trap. Flip the top part of the bottle upside down, forming a funnel, and place it into the bottom half of the bottle. We suggest you secure the two pieces together with some duct tape.

5: Cover the bottom part of the bottle with something dark. We are trying out using our duct tap. The dark color is inviting to the pesky mosquitoes. You can paint the bottom or cover the bottom with something dark to “welcome” the mosquitos to the “Hotel California” trap. Make sure to leave the funnel exposed and open.

6: Place your Mosquito Trap away in a place away from where you will be spending most of your time, allowing your freedom from irritating mosquitos.

7:  Keep your “Hotel California” Mosquito Trap activated by refreshing the solution inside the trap every 5 – 10 days.

This easy cheap trap will reduce the mosquitos around your outdoor spaces, leaving you to enjoy your summer evenings in peace.
