The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is distributing Economic Impact Payments (EIP) from the American Rescue Plan of 2021. In addition to the latest delivery of EIPs or “stimulus checks”, the IRS sent out two payments in 2020.
If you are waiting on your 2021 payment, you can use the IRS’s Get My Payment tool to find out if your check is on the way. You can also see if they returned your payment due to an issue with your mailing address or bank account information.
If you didn’t receive the full amount from last year’s distributions, you can claim the 2020 Recovery Refund Credit on your 2020 tax return. By claiming this credit, you can receive missing stimulus money through a lowered tax bill or your tax refund. To check the status the your “stimulus check” click here.
