Fifteen Year Old Arrest After Robbing Neigborhood Market

Yesterday a fifteen-year-old male was arrested by Texarkana Texas Police Department for Aggravated Robbery, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, and Evading Arrest. The young man robbed a Neighborhood Market on Wednesday over on Summerhill and fled on his bicycle. TTPD Detectives quickly obtained a warrant to ensure a quick apprehension of the teen. Officer Aaron Jones caught sight of the suspect still wearing the red sweatshirt worn in the robbery, and with the assistance of TAPD Officer Tanner and K9 Kashko, the teen was taken into custody. We have complete details to follow.

We arrested a 15-year-old juvenile for Aggravated Robbery, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, and Evading Arrest last night.

About noon on Wednesday, we got a 911 call about a robbery that had just occurred at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Summerhill Road. We were told that employees had seen a juvenile take several cell phone accessories from a display in the store, hide them in his backpack, and try to leave without paying for anything. When they tried to stop him at the front door, he immediately pulled a pistol out of his pocket, racked a round into the chamber, and pointed it at them. When he did that, they immediately backed up and allowed him to ride away on his bicycle. We searched the area, but we couldn’t find him. However, Detectives Cory Motley and Thomas Shaddix were able to use the surveillance video from the store to identify the juvenile and got an arrest warrant for him later that same afternoon.

Last night, Officer Aaron Jones saw a juvenile riding his bicycle near Wheeler Street and New Boston Road, and he recognized him as the suspect from the robbery the day before. When Jones tried to stop him, the juvenile tried to outrun the patrol unit on his bicycle but figured out that wasn’t going to work after a few blocks. He then ditched the bicycle and took off running with Jones behind him. Jones briefly lost sight of the juvenile during the foot chase but found him a minute or so later trying to hide in an overgrown vacant lot in the 600 block of Melton Street. He then was arrested and transported to JDC.

The juvenile was still wearing the same red sweatshirt from the robbery, and a loaded 9mm pistol was recovered near where he was arrested with the help of TAPD Officer Tanner Freeman and his K9 “Kashko”. All of that was placed into evidence.

Good job to all the officers involved in this case. Their efforts resulted in the quick arrest for an armed robbery and got another gun out of the hands of a dangerous juvenile and off the street.
