Please join us as we congratulate Texarkana Arkansas Police Department Corporal John Gibbert and Detective Ricky Patterson as they assume new assignments continuing to serve and protect our great city. We have complete details about their new roles to follow.

The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is pleased to report new assignments for two of our officers.

Officer Ricky Patterson was selected to become the newest member of the Criminal Investigation Division as a Crimes Against Property Detective. Detective Patterson began his law enforcement career in 1994 as a Patrol Officer. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring to his new position that will benefit our community. Detective Patterson holds an Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate and is a certified Law Enforcement Instructor. He also has special certifications as a Firearms Instructor and Field Training Officer. In times past, he filled the position of our Public Information Officer. Detective Patterson holds various letters of commendation for specific actions related to patrol and the community.

Next is Corporal John Gibbert. Corporal Gibbert was selected and will be assigned to the Special Operations Section as our Training Coordinator Officer. Corporal Gibbert also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. Before he began his law enforcement career, he served in the United States Marine Corps. In 1992, he started his journey in law enforcement. Corporal Gibbert holds the highest level of law enforcement certification and held many positions during his tenure, including Patrol, Gang Unit, Crime Suppression Unit, K9 Officer, and the Housing Authority Officer. Also, while serving at TAPD, Corporal Gibbert has been a Field Training Officer, a Certified Law Enforcement Instructor, a member of the Honor Guard Team, Bike Patrol, and a Team Leader on our SWAT Team. Corporal Gibbert has been awarded Officer of the Quarter, a Life-Saving Award, Fitness Award, and various letters of commendation for specific actions related to patrol and the community.
These officers move into their new positions on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
