Arkansas Governor Closes All Public Schools

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson ordered all Arkansas public schools closed starting Tuesday until at least March 30th.

Hutchinson gave the individual districts the option to close a day earlier on Monday if they choose.

Here is a statement from the Texarkana Arkansas School District:

“Per the guidance and direction of Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and Secretary of Education Johnny Key, All Texarkana Arkansas School District schools will be closed starting Monday, March 16 through March 30, 2020. Additional information regarding Alternative Method of Instruction(AMI) schoolwork will be sent in a separate message.”

Here is a statement from Genoa-Central:

“Governor Asa Hutchinson just announced the mandatory closings of schools for onsite instruction beginning Tuesday, March 17th due to the growing concerns over COVID-19.
We will have school as usual tomorrow in order for teachers and staff to get instructional materials to our students. Classes will resume on Monday, March 30th.
Your GC student needs to be fever free without medication for 24 hours in order to attend school tomorrow.
If your student is experiencing vomiting/diarrhea or flu like symptoms do not send them to school tomorrow.
This also applies if your child has been in contact with anyone with those symptoms.”
Here is a statement from the Fouke School District:

“Fouke School District will CLOSE at 3:30 P.M. on Monday, March 16 and will remain closed until Monday, March 30.

The district will implement Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) procedures for Tuesday, March 17, through Friday, March 20. 

Spring Break is March 23 – March 27.

The Arkansas Department of Education in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Health is closing all public schools statewide beginning March 16.”
