Texarkana City Council to Meet In-Person

After meeting virtually for awhile due to Covid-19 concerns, the Texarkana Texas City Council is back to meeting in-person.

The city is requiring citizens who attend the meeting to socially distance and wear face coverings. The meeting begins at 6pm at Texas side City Hall.

Parks & Recreation Events:

Southwest Center has reopened with limited hours of operation from 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Meeting rooms, classes and gym activities will be limited to 15 people per session.

XI.              CLOSED SESSION

The City Council will convene into closed session pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 551.071 – Consultation with the City Attorney.  The closed session will include legal consultation regarding the 1914 “Conveyance in Trust” of the land in downtown Texarkana, Texas, bordered by Fifth St., State Line Ave., and Olive St., conveyed to and accepted by “Howell W. Runnells, as Mayor of the City of Texarkana, Texas, John P. Kline, as Mayor of the City of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Mrs. A. J. Allen, as ‘President of the Daughters of the Confederacy’, jointly, and to their respective successors in office”.

Note: The Council does not anticipate taking any action after closed session other than reconvening in open session and adjourning the meeting.  If an agenda item for a future meeting relates to any matter discussed in this closed session, an opportunity for public comment will be provided before or during the Council’s consideration of the item.
