The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department now has an interim Chief, while a permanent replacement is sought for Kristi Bennett, who resigned earlier this Summer to take a job in Hot Springs.

Here is the Press Release from TAPD:

The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is releasing information today, August 19,
2022, on the Texarkana Arkansas City Manager Jay Ellington behalf. The assisted news
release comes from a utility pole in the downtown area that was struck earlier today,
causing City Hall technology to be disabled and will not be functional until repairs can be
made.

Today City Manager Jay Ellington appoints Assistant Chief Bobby Jordan as the Interim
Chief of Police for the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department.

Mr. Ellington said over thirty applicants have applied for the future TAPD Chief of Police
position, and the city has begun evaluating the applicants to move forward with the
interview process. Mr. Ellington also added the city plans to appoint a full-time chief of
police within the next ninety days.
