Together a New Boston Police Department Narcotics officer and his K9 partner officer conducted a simple traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of Stacy Smith for Possession of Controlled Substances and Unlawful Carrying of Weapons. On Monday, December 20, 2021, at approximately 12:50 am, an Officer with the New Boston Police Department Narcotics Unit performed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1800 block of U.S. Highway 82 West in the Denny’s parking lot. During the traffic stop, the Officer and his K9 partner located approximately 15 grams of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and a Handgun. The suspect, Stacy Smith was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 >= 4 grams < 200 grams, a Second-Degree Felony; Possession of Marijuana <= 2 ounces, and Unlawful Carrying of Weapons. Smith is currently housed in Bowie County Jail.
