The scammers seemingly never give up in their attempts to deceive people and steal their money.
Here is a Press Release from the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department:
We want to make the community aware of a PHONE SCAM currently in our area. The caller ID will come up as the Bi-State Center or a local police department when the scammer calls. Reports have stated that the caller is bilingual and may speak English or Spanish. The calls may differ from one another. For example, one call may say you or someone in your household has an outstanding citation or an outstanding warrant, and there needs to be a fine paid. Whatever the case, their goal is to get you to pay money over the phone.
Here at TAPD, we do make phone calls. It is a part of our daily business. However, we do not
call anyone for payment of fines to pay via phone. If someone calls you stating they are the police or calling from the Bi-State Center, get their name and the reason for their call, then contact that agency yourself to verify.Below you will find a local listing for all Bi-State Agencies.
