Liberty-Eylau Looking For Big Year in Baseball

The Liberty-Eylau Leopards are off an running in baseball this year.

Coach Zach Fowler is looking for big things out of his team this year. The Leopards return five starters from last years squad. L-E begins the season with eight seniors, six juniors, and five sophomores on the team.

Coach Fowler says they have options on the infield. Bryce Blackwell and Parker Goodman have seen action at first base. Ethan Brooks, Ben Witterstaetter, and Cayden Bennett spend time at second. Nate Moore and Ethan Brooks sharing duties at shortstop. Goodman, Bennett, and Witterstaetter have all seen time at third base.
The outfield consists of Zach Brush, Spencer Aldridge, and Braylon Blair. Rickey Gulley has also been in the mix.
Fowler has a good pitching staff led by Ben Witterstaetter, Spencer Aldridge, Parker Goodman, Nate Moore, Bryce Blackwell, Cayden Bennett.
Behind the plate both Colby Brooks and Ethan Brooks will spend time at catcher.
Coach Fowler sums up the other teams in the district this year. “I think PG and North Lamar have a lot of talent. Paris and Pittsburg are also always very competitive.”
Fowler says what he is looking for out of his players, “We expect to compete for a district title and work to improve on a daily basis. That’s always the goal.”
Fowler indicates his players are putting in the necessary work to be successful. “Our kids work really hard and because of their hard work they have developed into good baseball players. Hopefully we will see all the hard work pay off on the field this season.”
In the short time he has been there, Coach Fowler and his staff are doing all the right things, in making L-E baseball a threat to win district and go far in the playoffs.
