Unfortunately the Covid-19 cases in our area are spiking again, maybe some of the worst numbers we’ve seen since the Pandemic began in March.

The Bowie County Joint Operations Center had cut the updates back to twice weekly, but beginning today have gone back to Monday through Friday because of the surge in cases.

Here is the latest update from local officials.

“Note: Because of the number of rising COVID cases in our area, and an intensifying situation as it relates to public health, these reports will become daily once again until further notice.”

Bowie County Emergency Operations Center reports 132 new cases since Monday, October 26, 2020 for a total of 1,920 positive COVID-19 cases, with 80 deaths. The Department of State Health Services is reporting 1,295 recoveries. There are currently 545 active cases in Bowie County.

Cass County added 19 new cases and currently has 515 total, with 421 of those recovered, and 23 fatalities.

Through the end of the year, free testing will be offered Monday- Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Texarkana- Bowie County Family Health Center at 902 W. 12th Street, Texarkana, TX 75501. There are no requirements for testing (residency included), oral swab with results in 48-96 hours, and pre-registration available here.

The testing facility will be closed on Friday, October 30th due to an interruption in water service. It will reopen on Saturday morning, October 31st at 9:00 a.m.
