Here is a Press Release from the Bowie County Extension Office:

The Bowie County Master Gardeners and Texas A&M-Texarkana’s Extended Education and Community Development Department will host the program “All About Tomatoes” on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The class is free and open to the public. The class will take place in the Texas A&M Texarkana University Building, Room 326. No reservation is required to attend. The program will be presented by Andrea Thomas, Bowie County Master Gardener.

Tomatoes are one of the most popular plants to go into Spring gardens all around the world. Tomatoes come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. Each type of tomato has its fan base and niche in the kitchen. Big slicing tomatoes are just right for grilled burgers or sandwiches. Small tomatoes are made for snacking or tossing into a salad. Paste type tomatoes are sought after by those who love to make their own salsas and sauces at home.

This workshop will give you planting tips, management advice, and arm you with the information you need when walking through the isles at the local lawn and garden center. A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation. We hope to see you there!
