33rd Annual POW and MIA Vigil

Today and Saturday, join Chapter 278 Vietnam Veterans of American to honor and remember those who fought for our freedom but did not return home.  This sober vigil raises awareness of this issue. It allows the families of these men and women to know they are not alone in their quest for answers and closure. Texarkana Korea/Vietnam Memorial is the site for this event: located at 7th Street and State Line Avenue, downtown Texarkana.

Each unaccounted American from the Vietnam, Korean, and Gulf War is honored and remembered for one minute totaling 1,624 minutes.  

Vietnam War 1584 minutes

Korean War: 37 minutes

Gulf Wars: 3 minutes 

Totaling 1624 minutes (27 hours and 3 minutes).

Friday, September 17

5:26 pm Opening Ceremony

8:00 pm Candlelight Ceremonies

Saturday, September 18

Noon POW Meal

2:40 pm The combined “Ride to Remember” and “Dwight Nevill Memorial” departs from the Arkansas Welcome Center at the Red River on Hwy 71 north of Texarkana

3:00 pm “Ride to Remember” returns to the Texarkana Korea/Vietnam Memorial

3:10 pm POW/MIA Service

8:00 pm Closing/Candlelight Service
